I haven’t been writing much over here. Baby tech works best when you have a baby to write about, and I now know nobody with munchkins who’s interested in trying things out. I’m switching to mid kid tech as my squids have gotten into the realm of gadgetry, a little. They’re oddly not screen and gadget junkies for all the stuff we have.
The world got strange during Covid-19, and that turned most of the screentime arguments moot and allowed some greater study of them. Children grew and adapted as their parents went absolutely insane over simple things such as the right to decide proven and effective measures were somehow infringements on their freedoms. Several studies indicate that the screen time impact on children was about the same impact as having to wear glasses.
This is not to say there were not issues that arose, but that the screens were not the cause except in the case of addicts.
The antivaxxers convinced the vaccine hesitant to listen to talking heads for weeks on end as opposed to, I don’t know, maybe sit down and spend an hour reading the actual research and studies. Yes kids, you too can read the studies that the talking heads deliberately misrepresent again and again.
Parents claiming to care for their children, but not enough to do more than listen to opinions. Claiming research, but citing opinion pieces. Been a hoot.
That’s about it – I’ve got some content coming in the next few days as I’ve got some rather interesting and brain-building kid toys to mess with, but that’ll be a few days.
