5.75 years of diapers now

I bought what I hoped was my last pack of diapers a couple of months ago. Both kids are down to one a day for sleeping. We ran out of pull ups a day or so ago and made do with some size 5 or 6 diapers and today I grabbed what I once again hope to be the last of the diapers.

The 3yo is down to maybe two incidents a week at this point. She’s on track and is attempting as well as she can. The 5yo… not so much.

She would sleep through the house falling on her. She’s out. The world goes away she says, and then she wakes up. We had a sensor on her at one point to tell when she peed, what it did was tell us when to go in and try and wake her up.

But there’s hope. 15% of 5yos evidently are at the age where they stop. I’ve ruled out sleep apnoea, camel issues, late night liquids, diabeetus (doctor ruled that out with a pee test at a checkup,) and am currently hanging my hopes on underdeveloped bladder because the next growth spurt is here, and the pee spurts are way down. Lightly soiled diapers.

Parenting I don’t think is ever what we expect. No amount of anything we’ve done has changed fluid output more than an ounce or two. Just gotta wait and let that bladder grow.

Waiting…
