Round two with the Hands, Foot, Mouth disease
About a week ago the 2yo looked like she had a bite on her index finger. The next day it was really bad and we and the caregivers thought she must just be chewing her finger in her sleep. I bandaged it up as it looked terrible and was starting to look like bite marks.
We shot a nurse friend of ours a picture of it. I’d become concerned we might be looking at a spider bite as I had similar things popping up on one spot on my chest. It was Hands, Foot, Mouth disease. Just looks really really awful.
Baby started getting better, things have scabbed, skin is shedding, finger back to normal color, everyone else in the family started getting differently ill. Monday I started sneezing at work and went home to grab some different antihistamines as I thought I was dealing with allergies, nope.
4yo is grumpy as she’s not sleeping well with it but not otherwise showing illness. Mom is headachy and sore throat. I ended up with a 103 degree fever, severe headache, sweats, muscle aches, kidneys hurting, and otherwise was unable to think for a day and a half.
Feel like that’s gone now. The wonders of not having HFM your entire adult life cannot be overstated.
