Report shows several child smartwatches hackable

The Norwegian Consumer Council uncovered some severe problems with several devices able to track kids. The TL;DR version of this is that they were pretty easily hackable, you as a kidnapper could fake a child’s location, listen in and figure out when the kids are alone, or communicate with the child.

SOS functions of some of the watches was unreliable. No way to delete history on another.

Basically a series of good ideas badly implemented.

The Tinitell watch I reviewed is listed as not being easily compromisable like the others. So yay Tinitell.

You can see the entire report here.

Manufacturers have been informed and hopefully fixes are underway.
