Parenting level up

This morning I came downstairs, Maggie was PTFO and exhausted from being slightly ill yesterday (thinking a cold, nothing major,) so I didn’t get her up and dressed first instead letting her sleep a little longer.

I crept into Aerin’s room, she popped up and said “dah dah!” Scrambled to get to her feet and gave the universal “hug me large human!” sign. She looked cute, cuddly, and on the surface seemed dry.

Only two of those were correct. Had my nose been functioning (it’s been out since Maggie got sick,) I would have smelled it. I put baby on the changing table, realized my shirt was completely soaked. This seems to only happen when I put on a nice collared shirt – I’m not allowed to go to work looking professional.

Soaked baby, full fail pail, and wet wipes galore got the infant up and dressed in a top at least. I moved on to the three year old, she was still PTFO and I got her up and forget about that shirt. It was dual fails.

After wet wipe bonanza and a complete basket of laundry, me walking around the house like Putin, everyone up, brushed, fed, fail pail emptied, and on the road, we got to school four minutes into the 15 minute drop off window.

Hells yeah.

I’m sure there will be something to derail my feelings of accomplishment, but bam… Daddy has leveled up.
