When Maggie was a wee one she was a gassy lassie, in other words pissed off for unknown reasons, angry, passing more gas than Exxon. Rage face and an ass that would explode and a vomiter.
But it always seemed to be that her stomach was bugging her.
We went through a lot of formulas, enfamil, Target gentle stomach brand, something in a yellow container, I don’t remember, it wasn’t helping particularly well and the Gripe Water seemed to help a bit for gas relief, but it was not an end-all-be-all solution. She was burping up much less foul smelling burps, so there was that.
Rage baby raged, we’d pat her on the back, put her on her tummy, and generally see spews of milk flying back out a few times a day. It wasn’t particularly lovely.
From observation of Maggie and reading some on stomach issues I decided with Aerin to not let her be awake more than an hour or two at a shot before swaddling her and making her snooze.
Using this handy chart, and going by a slightly older baby as Aerin goes more with the six weeks schedule than the four, we instituted a forced calm down period if baby has been awake more than the timeframe.
Forced calm down involves either cuddling or hogtieing (swaddling,) and trying to bore her to sleep. This usually works, may take a few, but it does tend to calm the beast, and a calm beast doesn’t seem to rage out and fart with clenched fists of rage.
