100000You’ve seen those flashing banner ads that say “congratulations, you’re the 1,000,000th visitor to our website”? Well, we’re not quite there in page views, but in the past 18-19 months we’ve reached 100,000 people. Ok, we will… that’ll be sometime today unless the site goes down.

Oh sure, some of them are probably dupes or people who have come back to the site on work or home computers, but it’s an interesting number to reach as when I started the site I thought I’d be happy if I just had a couple thousand people a month visit.

As a note, this is people, not page views… page views are quite a bit higher.

So how’s the somewhat IT-centric baby blog doing? OK. Not as good as some of the bigger blogs, but I’m not part of those networks / not interested in shilling product to make a buck ($50 to post eight great reviews of a product? Nah.) Has it paid off? Nope – but I’ve got free hosting and have learned a lot that’s helped in my jobs.

Actually getting a lot of offers to shill these days. It’s good money at the larger levels. That would mean I couldn’t post a bad review of a crappy product, and those are my jam. Never trust a baby blog with a review that looks like another review you read. Lies I tell you, all lies.

Our top performing page has been that Britax review I wrote 16 months ago that I keep updating. Pretty sure most of the advertising revenue and Amazon commission have come directly or indirectly through that. Second highest performer, at least lately, has been my sister’s Lillebaby Complete Airflow baby carrier review, which got linked by the company, Kim’s other nipple cream uses came in a respectable place also.

theITbaby has now reached as many people as 1/6th the population of Washington DC, and half of them are looking at those three articles on the site.

If you’re reading this after about 1pm CST, you’re not the 100,000th user. Also, if you’re reading the main page chances are you’re one of the regulars who drops in but doesn’t comment/wouldn’t be considered a user. Who are you people anyway? 🙂

That’s it – there haven’t been a lot of updates at the moment because, well, there’s not much going on productwise, and baby’s just doing her thing and progressing well lately.

But seriously, who are you people and why are you here? 😉
