Carter’s Plush Security Blanket, Polka Dot Doll review

Carter's Security Blanket Polka Dot DollA long time ago the polka dot doll showed up at a baby shower, and for the first seven or eight months of Maggie’s life it went largely ignored by the baby, but it remained with her in the crib along with a few other non-choking hazards in clear violation of the clear crib portion of the ABCs.

At about ten months the dolly became part of getting the baby to sleep. There would be about 5-8 minutes of cuddling Maggie, the dolly would be introduced into the equation. This wasn’t particularly a sleep training regimen, it was more just that she liked grabbing and petting something when she was falling asleep.

If the doll wasn’t there, she would grab at your lips, nose, eyes, etc with her insane baby pincer powers.

Through the 16 months she’s had it it has seen all form of ick that had to be washed off of it, and has survived multiple washings and a constantly teething baby and still looks as good as new.

Before I saw a baby play with this I would have never thought it was anything other than a cute toy aimed at adults, but Maggie strokes it, squeezes the plush parts, rubs the silky part over her face, and if it’s not there when she goes to bed she now waits for you to go get it before passing out.

There are some temporary substitutes you can bribe her with while you wander around searching for something that looks like a handkerchief wrapped around a small tomato. She won’t go to sleep without it easily though.

I’m pretty sure you can find one of these a lot cheaper at a Carter’s or in the real world, so although buying through a link we provide does kick back a buck to Maggie, go look for it in stores.

We just got a backup Tigger (Winnie the Pooh,) Dolly at a Bargain Hunt for $7 so she has one at daycare. Not sure how that’s going to fly but the polka dot doll product was so good for her that might as well try it for daycare.

The Carter’s Plush Security Blanket, Polka Dot Doll is available from Amazon for $23.99.
