the IT city, the I.T. Baby

And then a sea of vomit overwhelmed us

It was a little after midnight, my birthday had just struck, and I was going to bed but checking on baby first. When I walked into her room I immediately thought I cat had peed all over the place, baby’s head was drenched and I called in ITMama and flipped on the lights.

What had actually happened is Maggie had horked in her sleep, then rolled around in it. My blaming of the cats was off, for once. My nose was confused by the chicken-y smell with stomach acid.

We gave Maggie a bath, got her in some clean jammies, and tried to get a little bit of bland food in her. She barfed all over ITMama and really it was an impressive amounts. Cleanup on aisle baby done, gave her some water and rocked her to sleep.

Then it was barf time again, new sheets, new outfit… we’ll skip the details but it was about 4 or 5 jammies and all the clean sheets we had, and a stuffed teddy bear, and her dolly, and a couple of other items that had to be washed.

It seemed at 4 or 5 barfs she was feeling better and just wanted to get to sleep, so about 1:40 I crawled into bed thinking this was quite a way to start my birthday, but was glad that Maggie was sleeping and blamed the chicken in a squeezy pouch we’d fed her earlier.

4am I awake with an urgent feeling that Maggie was throwing up – looked at the monitor and she was fine, I wasn’t. What ensued over the next 5 hours was a horkfest that I’ve never equaled in my life. When it was done I just felt exhausted but not particularly crappy.

For my birthday, Maggie wanted to crash early on, so did I but I did manage to stick it out for a bit. ITMama’s sick now. None of us have eaten anything common, so we’re blaming a stomach bug.

I’m at work today catching up on some stuff I missed yesterday due to being too out of it to handle baby and work, but even two days out I’m still hurting if I sneeze or move suddenly.

Fun times… Osophine Bassiette, the teddy bear, survived the washer and bear-drying
