New things we’re attempting with the insomniac baby

I swear baby, I'm going to break out the wineShe’s seven months now and has slept one night not in our bed or right next to us with multiple wakeups on average from 2am-5am at 40 minute intervals. It’s becoming more and more tempting to just put the baby in our bed and be done with dealing with insomniac baby in her room.

A few days ago I discovered that as long as there’s a heat source on one side of her there was sleep in excess of 40 minutes. I believe it was at about 2am when I was looking for something or other in the bathroom and ran across a pink hot water bottle from the 70’s that seemed like it might make something nice and body temperature like next to her.

Putting a hot water bottle with tap water which registers at about 90 degrees at max next to her I managed to keep her asleep and happy until 5am. Unfortunately this required multiple changes of water as hot tap water in that bottle does not transmit very well. 1970’s thick rubber thingie.

Unfortunately with the internet being what it is I was paranoid enough to not trust it and believe that somehow this could be dangerous, so I was up until five and then woken back up at six. In the past few days we’ve managed to get an extra couple hours so there’s not really been a huge improvement, but baby steps are baby steps.

At least I don’t have to feed her every 45 minutes now.

Some day I believe we actually may sleep through the entire night, I’d hoped this would be months ago, but… c’est la vie… got a pretty happy baby other than when she’s sleepy, hungry, or teething… which seems to be mostly when guests are over these days.
