Houston, we have teething

Baby Hand of AwesomenessWell, we’re pretty sure it’s teething. Baby M became a drool machine the other day and has been not eating terribly much lately, refused solids today, and life has lost its sparkle it appears. Combine that with the baby who can’t be put down and I’ve had my hands full today.

We’ve purchased some baby gum massagers and homeopathic baby roofies which seem to knock her down when they finally kick in. Unfortunately these “teething tablets” don’t seem to be quick acting and instead get around to doing the job sometime well after administration.

At the moment baby M’s sleeping off a dose of teething tablets, which as far as I can tell is the equivalent of some sleepy time tea. That plus a head rub and some baby explosions were what was required to calm her today.

At the current moment as I’m writing this, she’s been in bed for about three hours napping, so perhaps I’ll keep the teething roofies around for the future just to give her at night – she did sleep a lot longer in her crib last night than she has in a long time.

The gum massager seems to interest her, but mostly it’s just distraction I think. I don’t think that it’s particularly doing anything at this point other than poking a baby with a stick.

Eh, we’ll see. Baby M was doing the fat lower lip look yesterday as she kept exploring her lower gums with her tongue. Today she’s just passed the eff out after hours of complaining. Didn’t have much time to do anything other than tend to her as her large man servant today. That and wonder if my hearing was going to be permanently damaged from this teething.
