Huggies OverNites 12-hour diaper review

Huggies OverNites

We got Huggies OverNites on speculation that Baby M’s waking up at all hours might be due to her disgust with a wet diaper. Hey, I’ll try anything to sleep through the night now and this seemed like a valid course of action to try.

Unfortunately it has thus far proven nothing, but other factors such as a high fever etc have not really played well into testing the theory. However I’ve had a pretty good chance to test the diapers for leak resistance and they rule.

First off, Size 3 claims to be from 16-28 pounds. On Baby M I believe we could have probably gone with a size 1 considering the size threes are absurdly large on her. That said, other than one incident caused by the absurdly large diaper slipping slightly to the right, there have been no spills, and that’s kind of amazing.

Our track record was a total leak about two out of three days, and it didn’t really matter whether you changed her or not during the night, she saved it all up for one shot.

The only real concern I have with these diapers is that they are so large and ill-fitting on a 16 pound baby that you have to have a onesie or jammies to hold the thing more or less steady. These were not made for tall 16 pound babies, they were made for squat round 16 pound babies. I wish they’d measure by waist size, but whatever.

The securing adhesive is pretty good, won’t come off with normal baby movement, comes off like a dream when you need it. The diapers themselves you’ll realize the next morning live up to the claims of being able to withstand 12 hours with a baby doing its best to flood them out.

I have never held a diaper as heavy as one of these after Maggie was in it for a night and ate 18 ounces or so during the night. I had serious issues getting it into the failpail, which should not happen on an infant diaper.

You can grab a 72 pack size 3 at Amazon for $24.99, keep in mind that that is a 3-month supply as you’re only going to be using them at night and they do not particularly function well as a day diaper.

I got a 96 pack at Target during a recent run for about the same price plus tax, so you might be better served dropping by there depending on distance, local tax rates, etc.
