12″ Chica plush with squeaker review (The Chica Show)

Fiesta Chica 12" Plush with Squeaker
Chica from the Chica Show

If you know baby M and us personally, chances are you’ve been exposed to The Chica Show on Sprout. The Chica show usually allows me eight minutes of putting the baby down to do something involving sharp objects as Maggie loves Muppets and Chica.

First off, the construction of the Chica I got is fine, I do not think that a baby could manage to do anything to it that would end up harming them, however I notice that the Chica plush is not that close of a replica to the Chica on the Chica Show/Sunny Side Up Show.

Chica PlushWhere I have a little bit of an issue is that the chicken that they’re selling called Chica doesn’t really look much like Chica. The color is wrong, the eye placement and size just loses cuteness, you can’t life the wings to do a cute Chica wave, and the squeaker is a dog toy squeaker and as such doesn’t sound much like Chica.

There’s an additional underbelly fuzz on the plush that doesn’t appear on Chica (well, maybe two inches lower (I can’t find a picture),) and a complete lack of neck feathers, which Chica has on the show and in the cartoon.

I can totally see why the lack of neck feathers, but it’s still a pretty prominent feature that’s missing. The comb on Chica’s head is also wrong, just too short and not right all around. The feet are also not the same if I’m remembering them correctly.

You also have to pretty much crush the chest to get the thing to squeak, so every time you want to use it you’re showing chicken abuse to your baby.

I like the toy overall, but it’s not Chica. It’s more like Chica’s Canadian cousin twice removed on her father’s side. It’s still wicked cute though. As a chicken plush it rules, as Chica it drools.

The 12″ Chica plush is available from Amazon for $12.94.
