We had a server crash and survived!

What it feels like when your server crashesA nation on edge

At the moment The IT Baby is running on a computer sitting in my house on a Comcast business line. It’s sitting in a linux virtual server on a drive that’s not been accessed much and had little to do other than store large files and host The IT Baby. It’s a masterpiece of doing it yourself, and of course it blew a hard drive in the first month with very little accessing of it.

Warning signs of the impending server crash

Sometime last night it started acting funky. By this morning it was shot. Very oddly I had a backup from yesterday so no articles were lost, however if anyone commented on anything, you can pretty much figure that comment is gone.

Replacement drive has been ordered, backup regimen being examined, babies being poked.

I have a feeling it has something to do with staff reporter Maggie’s foul temper tonight. Perhaps hard drives can’t stand drill sergeant screams. Who knows.
